My Home’s Paint Colors

Paint is a tricky subject.  And I say tricky, but what I really mean is infuriating.  Ha.  A color can look SO great in a picture or in someone else’s home, but when you try it in yours?  Totally different.  And not at all what you were trying to mimic.  Does this sound like you?

It’s happened to me countless times.  I’ve sampled dozens of colors and then whine and pout “why doesn’t it look like herrrrsssss???”  There are so many elements that can change the look of a paint color from one wall to the next, from one house to the next.  If you want to read more details about choosing a paint color, read this post that I wrote a few months ago after being infuriated with choosing a color for my husband’s office.

So without further ado, I’m going to share all of the paint colors I’ve used in my home in this one post.  I get asked frequently what paint colors I’ve used, so now they can all be located in one place for easy, future reference.  And I’ve warned you.  If the colors look a certain way in my photos, and not even close to the same in your house, don’t say I didn’t tell you ahead of time!

My Entire Downstairs:  Sherwin Williams Pavillion Beige

(Kitchen, Formal Dining & Bar area, Family Room, Front Hallway, Foyer, and Upstairs Hallway)

I chose this color right after we moved in 3.5 years ago from a photo I liked on Pinterest.  I was going for a nice “greige”.  Overall, I like it, but it’s probably a little more beige and a little darker than my taste now.  If I had it to do over?  I would use Accessible Beige instead (see below).  But it’s still a really good neutral color for all the main common areas of my home.

My Master Bedroom: Benjamin Moore Revere Pewter

Again, I chose this because I saw it on Pinterest a lot.  It’s a super versatile color that can look really gray or really beige, depending on the space and the lighting.  In my master, I think it looks pretty gray.  In my laundry room, it looks more beige (see below).  Overall?  I give it 9/10.  It’s my second favorite color ever!  (Accessible Beige being the first ;])

Ryan’s Office:  2 colors

The Paneled Accent Wall:  Sherwin Williams Functional Gray

Choosing the paint colors for my husband’s office was actually a nightmare.  The room has really poor lighting and I should have known to pick really light colors because of that, but hey, we all make mistakes.  I ended up painting the paneled wall twice because the first color was just way too dark.  Overall?  Function Gray is really nice, but not my favorite color ever.  And the custom mix on the other walls at 20% just didn’t come out at all how I imagined.  This room probably has my least favorite paint colors in the house.  Boo.

My Laundry Room:  Benjamin Moore Revere Pewter

Same color as my master bedroom here.  As I mentioned above, I think it looks much more beige in here.  I love the versatility of this color!

The Nursery:  Sherwin Williams Accessible Beige

My. Favorite. Paint. Color.  It used to be revere pewter.  Until I discovered accessible beige.  It’s just beautiful.  It’s light enough to keep things bright, it’s warm, and just the perfect “greige” in my book.  If I had it to do over, I’d paint all my main living areas downstairs this color.  But that’s a lot of painting.  And no thanks.

My Guest Room:  Behr Porpoise

A color I chose many years ago from a paint swatch in the store.  I actually still really like it, but it’s too “cool” of a gray for the rest of my house.  My spare bedroom will be getting a makeover soon and this gray will be going bye bye.  But no hard feelings here!
