Today I’m sharing the bold transformation of painting my entire house of doors BLACK! For the price of a couple cans of paint, I made a huge impact in my home, and added plenty of richness and uniqueness! And let me just tell you, that you don’t truly know how many doors you have until you go to paint every. single. one!
Here’s my upstairs hallway of doors “before”. This is where our house gets the name “Hotel Dean”.
And the builder grade door knobs to go along with them.
When I started taking them off the hinges and removing all the hardware.
I painted the “creases” of the doors first by hand with a standard paint brush, and then used a roller for the rest of the flat areas. I used the color Caviar by Sherwin Williams in a satin finish.
I did the closet doors also!
I did a total of 3 coats on each door on both sides. Then replaced the handles with these brass door handles from Lowe’s.
Before they went back in the house.
The downstairs office and bathroom.
Upstairs master bath and both closets.
Front door. It’s black on the inside and outside.
Upstairs office.
Upstairs bedroom and bath.
Bedroom, laundry room, linen closet.
Another bedroom.
Master Bedroom, and even the air handler closet, too!
What do you think? Too bold for you, or something you would consider?
