Do your belts sit all over the floor of your closet like mind did? Do you remember this “before” picture of my closet? Check out the belts all over the floor! So for my new closet this was NOT happening. I decided to build a storage system for my belts.
Supplies:
– piece of wood for belts to hang off
– 1×2 piece of pine
– white paint
– white eye hooks
– drill
– hammer
– tape measure
I had this leftover piece of MDF after building the closet frame. I counted how many belts I had and therefore how many holes I was going to need. I made two rows of dots and staggered them evenly so that when the belts hang they are not completely on top of each other. I used a hammer and this pointy piece of metal to measure and poke my “holes”. Just enough to make a mark to start my eye hooks.
I predrilled holes using a small bit (3/16) for the eye hooks to easily screw into
Screwed the eye hooks in by hand
Nailed in a 1×2 piece of pine to the closet wall so that when I installed the belt hanger and slid it out completely, it would clear the trim on the front side. Attached the drawer slide to the 1×2 and nailed the belt hanger to the drawer slide.
And here is the finished product!
I absolutely love that my belts have a home and are not all over the floor. What do you think? Is this easy enough that you would consider making one to? Comment and let me know what you think!
