A few weeks ago I mentioned that my friends Angela, Jennifer and I were taking a trip to Atlanta to makeover a bedroom for a couple and I’m excited to be sharing the makeover reveal with you today! (If you missed the original post, you can click here to catch up about the space we were making over and the problems we faced.) To summarize, we chose Nicole’s bedroom on instagram and flew to her house to completely make over her bedroom in only 2 days! It was an absolute blast and so incredible to see a space transform so fast. Let me remind you of Nicole’s bedroom submission.
The BEFORE
The space had so much potential, but was clearly lacking in every way possible. We were presented with a two toned tray ceiling, boring walls, and an overall lack of personality in this room. But we knew we could breathe so much life into this otherwise lifeless bedroom.
This was the design plan and vision board we came up with. You can see more of the details of it here on Jenn’s site. Every single item in the room is from Lowe’s, isn’t that incredible?! Now, brace yourselves.
The AFTER: Makeover Reveal
Hard to believe it’s even the same room, right?! We flipped the orientation of the bed so that makes it even more unrecognizable. Not to mention the wall to wall board and batten treatment, new paint everywhere, all new window treatments, and completely new furnishings. A jaw dropping transformation if you ask me! But I may be biased 🙂

The Night Stand Hack
There’s one project in particular we worked on that I love the result of and want to share: the night stands! This project actually wasn’t in our original plans, but let me show you what happened.
While deliveries were showing up at the homeowners house and I was checking off my list, Nicole sent me a photo of these night stands. I had a slight heart attack when I saw them because I didn’t realize how low to the ground they would sit, even though I absolutely love the look and style of them. You can see in this photo how they are significantly lower than the height of the mattress. And that’s a problem since we really wanted a night stand that was similar height as the bed. Fortunately I thought of a solution! Let me take you through the steps.
I bought 8 of these legs that are sold at Lowe’s and cut them down on our miter saw to 10.5″ since that’s how much height I wanted to add to the night stands.
Next I painted the cut legs with this matte black spray paint. After painting them black I taped off the tips of the feet and painted them gold with this gold spray paint.
The final step with the legs was to drill holes in the tops to insert the screw that will attach them to the bottom of the night stands. The legs come with the screw necessary to do this.
Sold next to the legs are these silver plates needed for the legs to screw into. And here’s what it looks like after the legs have been installed.
And now we have appropriately sized night stands with tons of character! Such an easy project and I swear these night stands looks like they were supposed to have these legs all along!
I love that you can take any night stand and make them a completely custom height. There are so many leg options besides these that you can find here. Let’s take another look at the before of this space.
And this absolutely stunning after view:
We had such a blast making over this space for Nicole and Chris. We hope they love it and make many memories in the years to come in this beautiful bedroom. Thank you to Lowe’s for making this possible!
