Hey friends, I’m still here! With a new baby around, it’s not exactly easy to keep up my normal pace with projects. And a lot of my projects involve painting, which unfortunately I can’t really do with him around due to the fumes. But I did find some time to squeeze in some building lately. During naps, when hubby is home, or early morning when the babes is still snoozin’!
I’ve wanted to build a farm table for a long time now. Which is funny, because I don’t want a farm table at all. I just wanted to build one to build one. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely adore them. And I love the farmhouse style (Chip & Joanna, anyone??) but it just doesn’t “go” with the style of my decor. But that didn’t stop me.
So here’s the table that Restoration Hardware sells. For like 86 bajillion dollars. And who seriously has the budget for that? Not many people I know. And certainly not me. So the super talented Whitney and Ashley of the Shanty Sisters have the plans on their website [HERE] for how to build this exact table. How cool is that?! And it’s SUPER easy! *IFFFF you have all the tools, which I totally do 😉
I will tell you up front, this is NOT a tutorial post. I took a few very poor iPhone quality photos documenting parts of my progress, but the Shanty Sisters tutorial is so good, I would not begin to try to duplicate it. Instead, you should totally use theirs.
So apparently I didn’t take any photos at all, until most of the first leg was assembled.
I actually assembled the table top inside the house for two reasons. 1) I could keep an eye on the baby and 2) I used my desk to lay the boards on and keep everything flat
Here it is on the legs, before I added the chunky border.
It was time to stain before assembling the top to the legs.
I am absolutely in love with this stain, Varathane Briarsmoke!
Ta-Da!
What do you guys think of my farm table? Comment and let me know your thoughts, I love hearing from you all!
