Foyer Makeover

Hi guys!  Today I decided to share with you the transformation of my foyer since I recently made an update to it.  I had to dig a little bit to find these photos from when we first moved in.  And by digging, I mean lots and lots of scrolling, but here they are.  These are not true “before” photos because I obviously couldn’t wait to start painting but it’s pretty close.

My front door is on the same wall as the front of my dining room, so when I painted that room, naturally I carried it over to the front door as well.  As a matter of fact, my entire downstairs is painted Pavillion Beige, and my dining room, foyer and front hallway all have the wainscoting on the bottom half.

Somewhere along the line I got the idea to paint every single interior door in my home black.  I saw the idea on Pinterest and before my husband could blink, every door was black.  Another typical Lindsay move, but I still absolutely love that I did this.  The outside of the front door was actually black when we bought the home, so I thought it was only appropriate that I paint the inside black to match it.

Here is when I completed the wainscoting in my dining room, before I knew that I was going to carry it all the way through the foyer and hall.

Here is my iPhone sketch of what I saw in my head and wanted to create for my foyer.  It has the wainscoting on the bottom, an empty frame with a “D” on top, and a few hooks underneath that.

I bought the empty frame from Hobby Lobby as well as the “D”.  I traced a circle on the wall with a pencil the size of the “D” and painted it a darker color.  The hooks I bought from Lowe’s.

Here’s another poor quality shot, but it shows the builder grade light fixture that was there.

I just recently scored this new quatrefoil pendant from none other than Joss and Main.  This was the LAST builder grade light fixture in my home and I want to throw a party now that they’re all gone!

And last but not least, this new amazing Devon Mirror from Zgallerie.  Don’t worry, I have found homes for both the empty frame and the “D” in other places.  I will be sharing soon!  I also may be building a small entry table for under the mirror one of these days, but still can’t decide if I’m going to do that or not.  There’s plenty of other things on the list to keep me busy for now 🙂
