It hasn’t been officially announced yet on the blog, but as I’m sure most of you know, my husband and I are expecting our first child! We are beyond excited and can’t wait for this new adventure. We’ve been together just shy of 10 years and have enjoyed every minute of “just the 2 of us”. It’s time for a little Dean to join the household!
(Our Christmas card announcement)
This past week I had my 4th ultrasound. And finding out the gender of the baby has been something my husband and I have gone back and forth on lately. At first I was sure I wanted to find out as soon as possible. But after thinking about it for a few weeks, I thought it would be really awesome to wait and be surprised the day of delivery. (And for those of you thinking how in the WORLD I would plan a nursery without knowing the gender – it’s ok. It’s going to be pretty neutral, so I could deal with waiting.) I thought for sure that Ryan would be on board with whatever I chose because he’s usually indifferent on most things. But when I brought the idea up to him, he immediately shot it down. He said “I’m such a planner. It would be totally against my personality to not find out.” Surprised by this, I easily agreed.
The sonographer told us to turn our heads while she looked. As hard as it was, we both obeyed. And of course Ryan teased me a few times by faking that he was looking. But the gender was safely placed in the envelope and home we went. A healthy moving baby was all my eyes (and anxiety) needed to see that day. We patiently waited for the weekend and had a few friends over for a big gender reveal!
Any excuse to decorate for a party and I’m all over it!
Especially the cuteness of babies and pink and blue everything? What’s not to love?!
Sandwiches, wings, fruit, candy, and cupcakes, oh my!
Someone thinks they’re cute by adding my (misspelled) name to the girl list.
And it looks like Team Boy is in the lead!!
Here are our goofy faces as we anxiously await to be sprayed with color revealing silly string!
Everyone grabbed a disguised can and were just as anxious as we were! Ryan began the countdown and out it came!
It’s a BOY!!!!!!!!! Our hearts are filled with an incredible amount of joy (we were both on TEAM BOY!) and we pray for a healthy pregnancy and baby boy!! And of course I am already dreaming up plenty of BOY nursery ideas that I can’t wait to share with you all!
